5 Steps to promote your short film online
Thousands and thousands of clips are uploaded to video sharing sites like youtube every single day, and a good sizable majority of these clips are just plain awful. So how do you promote your short amongst all this chaff that is around on the internet?
We put together some steps which should be an essential part of everybody is online promotion strategy.
1 Upload your content to a selection of video sharing sites
Youtube isn’t the only site you should think of, some sites include, BrightCove, Revver(who pay you money to have your clips), daily motion etc.
2 Tag your content properly
Tagging your content well and thoroughly will help users find it more easily. Go through your film, and think of as many keywords as possible
3 Credit your film
Make sure your film is thoroughly credited to you and your site at the beginning and the end, as well as in your profile. There is no point in putting up your film on the net if no body knows that you made it.
4 Take account of the A.D.D. Generation
These days people can rarely watch a clip on the internet for longer than 60 seconds. Think about creating a trailer style short edit to entice your audience to watch the whole film.
5 Think of your audience
Go and find your audience online. There are lots of communities and blogswhere people share all the cool videos they find on the internet, such as this site. Find these sites and approach the site administrators and ask them what they think. Google and Technorati have excellent search functions which should help you find the popular blogs which is right for your audience.
Once you start reaching out to your audience people will start to pick on your film and talk about it on the internet, and there have you it you’ve started a mini online campaign which has cost you nothing but your time!
